Donor Recognition
Donations - of all sizes - make a life-saving difference at St. Mary's of Michigan. We are committed to recognizing all donations which help provide the healing edge. All gifts to St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation are recognized at the Foundation's newsletter, Legacy. Gifts of $500 or more are acknowledged through the Foundation's Tree of Life program.

Tree of Life Program
All contributions to the St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation are genuinely appreciated and recognized.

For all gifts of $500 or more, donors are recognized on our Tree of Life, located in the St. Mary's of Michigan Medical Center main lobby. The Tree of Life is a graceful reminder to all who pass through our main corridor that we are a health system and a community - working together to sustain a health ministry. More than polished hand-wrought metal, the tree is a way of bringing public recognition to acts of generosity and goodwill by contributors - like you.

A Look Back in History…
It was 1874. A lumberjack laid in his bed at the newly opened St. Mary's Hospital – Saginaw's first hospital, and first hospital north of Detroit. The injured man, carefully nursed by four Daughters of Charity, wrote back to his logging camp mates in Michigan's white pine forests:
"If any of you get sick or hurt do not stay there to die, but for God's sake, strike for this place, St. Mary's Hospital, there is life here.”

1874 Society
Today, St. Mary's of Michigan honors its heritage that began with four Daughters of Charity caring for lumberjacks, river men and sawmill workers in 1874. The spirit and the mission of those four founding Daughters of Charity are celebrated each and every day at St. Mary's of Michigan. You may now honor the work and dedication of the caregivers who have engaged our hearts and made this community a better place to live by joining the 1874 Society.

St. Mary's of Michigan's 1874 Society recognizes the contributions of many who support the health system's tradition of healing excellence with gifts of $1,000 or more. Society members are exceptional. Their financial gifts enable St. Mary's of Michigan to do what it does best…deliver the healing edge to our community and beyond.

The investment by our 1874 Society members allow St. Mary's of Michigan to drive discovery, pioneer medical breakthroughs in cardiac sciences, neurosciences, cancer care and trauma, while making our community a better place to live.

Membership
Why give? The answer is simple. The 1874 Society family is made up of friends - exceptional friends who help fund new state-of-the-art equipment, interactive technology, innovative programs, and many other life-saving healthcare needs.

St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation recognizes all 1874 Society supporters by permanently inscribing the donors' names on the donor wall located in the main hallway of the hospital. 1874 Society members are also invited to various healthcare educational events and donor receptions throughout the year at St. Mary's of Michigan.

In recognition of these individuals, St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation offers unique recognition levels for your tax-deductible contribution. Each recognition level represents one of St. Mary's of Michigan's Core Values – the strong foundation for the work we do on a daily basis.

Lives Impacted by Your Giving

Gynecologist Deborah Russell, M.D.

“Robotic-assisted gynecological surgery is really great for perimenopausal women in their 40s and 50s who don’t have time to recovery from traditional surgery. They read. They know what’s out there. Women are asking for this. It’s great that we have the technology here at St. Mary's of Michigan to meet their needs.”

--One of five area gynecologists using robotic surgical technology only available at St. Mary's of Michigan
