Are you interested in learning more about helping someone in need?

Do you want to provide a book for a child while visiting a St. Mary’s of Michigan emergency room?

Would you like to acknowledge the compassionate care of a St. Mary’s of Michigan physician?

St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation encourages you to learn more about the following opportunities. With your help, St. Mary's of Michigan is able to expand its life-saving services to serve all those in need.

Light up a Life
Every holiday season, St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation sponsors the Light Up A Life Campaign which supports various critical hospital programs through its Unrestricted and Mission Funds. Donors to the Light Up A Life program have an opportunity to make a gift in memory of a loved one or in honor of a special person. Such gifts are recognized by the lighting of Christmas trees and displaying special donor recognition boards. Christmas lights are used to decorate more than 120 trees in front of the hospital. Honor that special someone this year, while supporting the mission of St. Mary's of Michigan with the following options : Lighted Tree, Gold Engraved Ornament or White Light.

Honor Your Doctor
Year after year, your doctor has provided expert care while embracing you and your family’s health and wellness needs. Take this opportunity to share your appreciation by honoring the extraordinary doctors in your life. By making a contribution in honor of an exceptional doctor, St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation will present the doctor a special Doctor's Day card. Your contribution will help fund hospital programs and equipment.

ER Books
Under the direction of Dr. Stephanie Duggan, St. Mary's of Michigan and Timberline Emergency Physicians are partnering for an important cause -- youth literacy. The mission of the ER Books reading program is to provide a book to all children 10 years old and under who visit the St. Mary's of Michigan Emergency Departments. This innovative program encourages young children to read and explore new adventures during their emergency visit.

With your help, the ER Book reading program will be able to make an immediate impact on our youngest patients.

The Clothes Closet at St. Mary's of Michigan
The Clothes Closet is a hospital service for patients being discharged from St. Mary's of Michigan who do not have appropriate clothing to leave the hospital. During the patient's visit, his/her clothing may have been cut off in the Emergency Room, or the patient may be homeless and have no available clothing. Or a patient may not have a loved one who is able to obtain adequate clothing before he/she is discharged.

No matter the scenario, the situation is critical for these patients.

You can make a difference by donating new clothing or making a financial contribution towards the purchase or new clothing for a patient in need. The following items - in all sizes - are needed on a daily basis to keep the St. Mary's of Michigan Clothes Closet fully stocked:
  • Sweatpants and sweatshirts
  • T-shirts
  • Underclothes
  • Socks
  • Shoes (including shower shoes)
  • Coats

All gifts to St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation are tax deductible. With your support, St. Mary's of Michigan will continue its legacy of providing extraordinary care to the many individuals and families throughout the state. Your donation can be mailed or dropped off at St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation, in care of the Clothes Closet Fund, 800 S. Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601.

If you are interested in learning more about this program, please contact St. Mary's of Michigan Foundation at (989) 907-8300.

Stephanie Duggan, M.D.
Emergency room physician, contributor to the St. Mary’s of Michigan Foundation, and supporter/creator of the ER Books Reading Program
“All patients – but especially the very youngest – visiting the emergency room need to feel safe, secure, and cared for.

At St. Mary’s of Michigan, we not only accomplish this with our advanced medical care, we also make a difference with our ER Books
Reading Program.”
