The St. Mary’s of Michigan Neurosciences Center of Excellence excels because of the extraordinary dedication and commitment by a team of physicians, nurses, technicians, researchers and spiritual caregivers who willingly solve complex problems of the brain, back and spine.

Our renowned program began nearly 50 years ago. Neurosurgeon E. Malcolm Field, M.D., started the neurosciences program at St. Mary’s of Michigan, committed unwavering support to patients throughout the state, provided a vision for the future, and helped to build a comprehensive program with legendary care that continues. With Dr. Field’s vision, St. Mary’s of Michigan has consistently and aggressively broken new ground in brain, back and stroke care. In the process, a huge team of specialists has grown with it – experts in trauma, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, radiology, orthopedics, imaging, rehabilitation and nursing care.
